If we take a moment to stop, not react, but truly stop and assess our education system, has it been built and run on a foundation and consciousness of striving?
We have a great education system that supports us in a very temporal sense, to pass grades to go on to study for whatever it is we feel to do be it a doctor, joiner, hairdresser, teacher, engineer, run our own business, work for other etc. But at what cost is this to our health, well being and our inner sense of self?
If you look at a child who enters the system as a young child, mostly all full of wonder, joy. laughter, fun, a lightness and love of life, to even just a fee years latter see their walk change to one more solemn, controlled, unhappy face, maybe even cheeky, rude, full of comparison, lack of self worth, not feeling good enough etc. What has happened and what has changed?
Watch this child grow to move on to high school, to what comes out the other end, someone who may not even make it, maybe they suicide, drop out of school, hate it, the joy, the wonderment the love of life has seemingly gone, maybe we criticise and judge them for hoods up, phones out, answering back, being rude, withdrawing to their room all day. But really our kids are a refection of society.
The question we really need to ask is what is happing in our systems that a child goes in with so much light, love, laughter, joy, wonderment, inquisitiveness, to come out the other side not even a shadow of their former self, in all honesty it could be another person, It's easy to say oh they are turning into a teenager, but that's an excuse to not really look at what's going on in life.
In no way is this a judgement or a criticism of schools or teachers, teachers do an incredible job, and if truth be told, w could apply the same awareness to teachers, a teacher enters the profession with such care for children, such a love of the job and passion, and for some not even a fe years down the line into their profession they are leaving, can't wait to get out of the education system, for other it's later on in their career. So what again is happening here? What is happening in the middle? That the joy, the passion that a teacher starts with is, is gone at the other side?
Coming back to the Education Consciousness has it been built on strive. The consciousness we have all been through and still for many people they are aligned to.
If we take a non personal look at it, stand back, not judge, can we see how the system has been built on telling our children, us as well as we have all been kids, that we aren't good enough as we are, that we have to strive, to constantly look outside ourselves to achieve, to be better, to keep reaching, that we're not good enough as we are, that everything we need to know is out there, not inside of us? For some you may say of course this is how it needs to be, but that's not the case. There is a very different way for us all to learn that isn't about striving, being in that constantly looking outside ourselves, reaching outwards to make ourselves better, to achieve , to strive, to drive to attain that goal.
Now it's not about changing the system, or getting all airy fairy about it, but what if we were taught from young, and there is no one to blame here as we have all grown up in every generation being taught the same way, and by being taught I mean life, not just the Education system, that there's another way to learn?
We still go to school, we still learn the same subjects, get jobs etc, but it starts from the foundation that we are already enough, from a settlement in our bodies, yes we need to learn maths, literacy and all the other subjects, sit exams, maybe go on to University, get a job, but it comes from a settlement in our body, not the anxious, drive, strive that runs most of our bodies, telling us we constantly have to be striving all the time,
That there is a way to live, go to work, school, be in family, relationships, that comes from a settlement in out bodies first, and from there a knowing what needs to be done, and doing it, which leaves a person feeling whole and complete without the constant feeling or thoughts of I need to do more, I'm not good enough, the comparison, judgement, anxiety, lack of sleep, stress, exhaustion etc. Would this then change what we see on the other side, would a child who starts school knowing who they are from their body, leave feeling the same way, solid and steady in their body, still studying the same subject etc. But from a different place within themselves; and not a child full of anxiety, stress, depression, withdraw, needing stimulations to just get through the day / life to strive, to cope, to not feel. The same can apply for us all.
